Real Riders: Meet Shaunna Demars

Real Riders: Meet Shaunna Demars

This weeks Real Rider is Shaunna Demars from Canada, who tells us about how wakeboarding helps her through tough times and getting past fear of inverts – check out her words and video.

Here at WakeSista we are all about supporting and helping give a media platform to the top female riders in our sport, but we also appreciate that they make up a small percentage of us and everyone starts somewhere and many do this sport for pure pleasure or are slowly working there way up the ladder.

So we like to take the time to feature Real Riders and find ot a little bit more about them and what motivates them to stay on the water.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know to be a real rider then please get in touch to [email protected] to tell us more.

So without further delay let’s meet this weeks real rider…

How long have you been riding for?

I have been riding now for 4 years in total.

What got you started in wakeboarding

In 2013 my mother passed away and I was always a hockey player but could never seem to get back on the ice. I am a very competitive person and wakeboarding gave me that outlet that I needed in the toughest time of my life.

What do you do when you are not on the water?

Mostly I dream about being on the water and stay busy with my job as a nurse.

What trick do you most like doing because it feels awesome?

The scarecrow is my favourite trick at the moment. Conquering inverts was really scary at first but I love pushing my comfort zone further and further.
